Shakira recently surprised with the announcement of the launch of her new album, which will be called Las mujeres ya no Llorn. This will include the musical hits that she has released since her breakup with Gerard Piqué was officially confirmed, such as Shakira – BZRP Music Sessions # 53, Monotonía and Acróstico.
Her return to the music industry like the phoenix was marked between 2022 and 2023 with important nominations such as Premios Lo Nuestro, Billboard Awards, Latin Grammys and the VMA Music Awards, in which she was recognized with the Michael Jackson Vanguard Music Award. However, criticism of her announcement soon appeared in the Spanish press, emphasizing that she will continue to take advantage of her separation.
And the album that will arrive on March 22 has a special component: the seven years that the singer’s followers had to wait to see a new project flourish. This, with a view to the alleged world tour that Shakira would also be planning, in order to delight her millions of fans with her new songs. What the Spanish press said
One of those who hit the Colombian the hardest after her announcement was journalist Xavier Sardá, a member of the TardeAR program on Telecinco. The communicator came out with everything he had in store against the Colombian, arguing that he was only focused on criticizing his relationship with Piqué. He also threw darts against the artist’s feminism, because if these issues had been addressed by a man, he would have been accused of being sexist.
“It’s a broken record. Don’t know how to discuss another topic? A guy does this and they call him an unpresentable sexist,” he said. But his set colleagues did not agree with the statements, as some pointed out that he is simply knowing how to monetize his love breakup, something that Sardá did not like, who added: “Are you telling me that it is not a scam, but that it is a pesetera –a person who gives a lot of importance to money–? Come now!”.
Shakira was accused of plagiarism
But this is not the only criticism that the Colombian has received, since recently a debate was opened on social networks about an alleged case of plagiarism that the Colombian artist had committed. According to several Internet users, Shakira would have copied one of the cover images of her new album, using some details of a young Spanish singer.
According to the photograph circulating on social networks, Mena named his second album Bellodrama and it was released in March 2023, apparently the first coincidence. The second lies in the image of Shakira staring with her head tilted upward, the same if not similar for many, in which the young Spanish woman also appears crying delicate diamonds, a concept very similar to that of the Barranquilla woman.
Another piece of information that was brought to light on social networks was the launch of Empty Cup with Manuel Turizo, as they claim that the song was released a few days apart. They also speculate that Shakira waited for the young Spanish woman to premiere her musical composition so she could do the same after her, both dressed as mermaids.
Mena released her song Acquamarina on March 14, 2023 and Shakira released Copavacita with Manuel Turizo on the 28th of the same month.
