The great musical maestro competes in the ‘Tropical mix’ category for his collaboration with Lenny Tavárez.

The prominent producer and arranger Sergio George has been nominated for the Premios Juventud 2024 in the ‘Tropical Mix’ category for the salsa version of the hit ‘El yate’, in collaboration with the versatile Puerto Rican artist Lenny Tavárez. This recognition once again highlights George’s impressive career in the music industry, establishing himself as a key figure in the revitalization of modern salsa.

Each year the Premios Juventud celebrate extraordinary achievements in music, community and social media, highlighting creators who are leaving their mark on culture. This year, the event will air live on Univision on July 25 at 7 pm ET from the Coliseo de Puerto Rico José Miguel Agrelot in San Juan.

‘El Yate’ is a song that was born seven years ago in an acoustic version, evolving through various genres until finding its best expression in salsa, thanks to the collaboration between Tavárez and George. The production, recorded in Puerto Rico at the El Padrino studio, includes renowned musicians who have worked with Sergio George on previous projects, guaranteeing exceptional sound quality.

The association between Tavárez and George arose in the 2022 Premios Juventud edition, where both shared their vision on the evolution of salsa. George’s proposal to revitalize the genre with the energy and talent of Tavárez was greeted with enthusiasm, resulting in a production that has captured the attention of audiences and critics alike.

‘El yate’ (salsa version) is now available on the main digital platforms and will be part of the album ‘Brillar’ by Lenny Tavárez. With this nomination, Sergio George not only reaffirms his legacy in Latin music, but also celebrates the success of a collaboration that promises to continue resonating in musical culture.
