The president of Venezuela, Nicolas Maduroexpressed this Thursday that the call “bolivarian revolution“, In reference to chavismowill have a “great victory” in the presidential elections, scheduled for the second half of this year – whose date has not been announced -, in which the president has not yet confirmed whether he will compete.
“When (the presidential election) comes, it will come. We, nerves of steel, calm and sanity, maximum mobilization, preparation of forces and, with the favor of God, go on the day it is our turn to have the great victory, one of the great victories.”, he said in an event broadcast on the state channel VTV.
The head of state reiterated that this year there will be presidential elections “with sanctions (or) without sanctions” and -he maintained- the “Venezuelan people will have a new great victory this year” for “clear the way to 2030 and beyond”.
“Be assured of that, but we will have to clear the path of evil“, said Nicolas Madurowho added that the nation will not accept “blackmail” of “nobody in the world”.
The president recently said that he still considers “premature” announce whether or not he will seek a third six-year term in power.

Meanwhile, the team of the presidential candidate of the main opposition coalition, Maria Corina Machadoannounced on Wednesday the start of her campaign ahead of the elections, in which they hope the anti-Chavista leader will be able to participate.
The former representative is disqualified by the Comptroller’s Office, which prevents her from holding elected public positions until 2030, a measure that she hopes will be lifted through a mechanism agreed between the chavismo and the PUD for the review of this type of cases.
