In the heart of Calle de Recoletos, in the Salamanca neighborhood, Fenómeno has just opened: a hi-fi bar where sound is not just another element of the premises, but the absolute axis around which everything else revolves.
Vinyl, criteria and high fidelity
The project philosophy connects with Japanese Jazz Kissathose spaces where people went to listen to records with almost reverential attention. Fenómeno collects that legacy and transfers it to Madrid with a social reading: a place where music articulates the shared experience, it does not interrupt it.
The musical curatorship has been in the works for more than a year before the opening. Without algorithms, with criteria. Funk and disco from the 80s and 90s form the sonic backbone, reinterpreted from the present by more than twelve DJs, each with their own vinyl collection and a personal narrative. The ritual of selecting, placing and mixing is an essential part of what happens here every night.
The sound system is unprecedented in Spain. Admire Audio has designed and manufactured a specific installation for the 400 m² space: twenty speakers of three different types, produced by hand over nine months in Valencia. The sound is precisely distributed anywhere in the room, generating an enveloping atmosphere without the need for high power.

A space designed to stay
He interior design reinforces the personality of the place. Woods, noble finishes and soft lighting create an intimate and sophisticated atmosphere. The speakers function as almost sculptural pieces, the vinyls are exposed and two different DJ booths generate different sound universes that invite you to explore the space as the night progresses.

The bar and the table, at the height
The signature cocktail It is built from its own laboratory where bases and preparations are developed before reaching the cup. Their signature cocktails—Flash, Pulse, Gravity, Aura—have their own personality, and classics like the Negroni or the Old Fashioned are executed with the same level of rigor.
The cooking menu It is brief and designed to share. Iberian torreznos, steak tartare, red tuna toast or beef burger with truffled béarnaise coexist with lighter proposals and sweet closings. Everything is designed so that eating and drinking naturally accompany a night that, in any case, revolves around music.

Freak open Monday to Sunday from 17:00 to 4:00 in C. of Recoletos, 13. A project of Mandala Group —behind Li-Onna, Sala de Despecho and Houdinni— which signs its most sensorial commitment in Madrid.
