The president of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, celebrated the orders of arrest issued today by theInternational Criminal Court a>(CPI ) against the former Russian Minister of Defense Sergei Shoigu < /a>and against the chief of the Russian General Staff, Valeri Gerásimov, for his alleged responsibility in war crimes and crimes against humanity committed in Ukraine.
“The decision is a clear indication that justice for Russian crimes against humanity is inevitable,” Zelensky wrote on his social networks.

The Ukrainian head of state added that the arrest warrants “demonstrate” that neither the military rank nor the political position they occupy “can protect Russian criminals” from justice.
“Both are accused of committing heinous crimes against civilians in Ukraine during Russian bombing of critical Ukrainian civilian infrastructure. These barbaric missile and drone attacks continue to kill people and inflict damage throughout Ukraine. b>”, Zelensky also noted.
The Ukrainian president stressed that Ukraine expects “more arrest warrants to deprive Russia of the sense of the impunity”that in his opinion have led to “Russian crimes for decades”.
