The president of Ecuador, Daniel Noboaconsiders that the violence affecting his country is a problem for the world and it is necessary to resolve the root of the actions of narcoterrorists, as he stated in an interview with the BBC.
In the last days, Ecuador has had to face the escape of one of the most dangerous men in the country, Adolfo Macias alias “Fito” -leader of the criminal gang The Choneros-, and also with the chaos of violent riots in six different prisons in the country.

To address the situation, Noboa declared a “Exception status” and authorized operations for the military and police to try to regain order in the prisons.
“It’s encouraging to see that the international community is really paying attention to what’s happening here because I think it affects everyone.“Noboa told the BBC.
“The narcoterrorists have operations here, in Europein USA, and I think we need to solve the problem at the root. And the root of the problem is here, at the origin”he added.
According to him, governments have not assumed full responsibility for the security problem in recent years and “The truth is that there is an armed conflict at the local level. There are unconventional militias, heavily armed, very well organized and with a lot of money”.

“Two weeks ago they were declaring war on this government. They were insulting me in every possible way. And now they want to talk about the Geneva Conventionand now they want to talk about human rights and say that they are just victims of the system”he added.
