The Comptroller General of presented before him (TSJ) the reasons for the political disqualification imposed on the opposition leader as reported this Monday by the court, in the midst of the review process of these sanctions, agreed upon between the Government and the main anti-Chavista bloc.

On its website, the TSJ He indicated that last Thursday he received documentation from the Comptroller’s Office, “giving compliance” to the procedure carried out by the Political Administrative Chamber of the highest court.

This instance had given a period of three days – which expired on December 21 – to the Comptroller’s Office to “submission of administrative records” of this case, according to which, Machado, candidate for the 2024 presidential elections by Democratic Unitary Platform (PUD), cannot hold elected office until 2030.

Likewise, the TSJ asked the body that imposed the sanction to deliver a “certified copy of administrative acts” that led to disqualification, a measure that was announced in 2015 with a 12-month extension and that this year it was known that its validity is 15 years.

Without offering details, the Supreme Court assured that it has received what it had requested from the Comptrollerso now it is up to the Court to analyze the documentation and decide whether to admit the lawsuit filed by the opponent, who requests that her disqualification be lifted, and whether precautionary protection is appropriate in this case.

Machado, who assures that she has never been notified of any disqualification, asked the TSJ to review her case, making use of the mechanism agreed upon between the Government and the PUD within the framework of the political negotiations that both sides are maintaining ahead of the elections in the second half of 2024.

The former liberal representative swept the opposition primaries on October 22, when she received 92.35% of the votes, in a contest that was declared “suspended” by the Supreme Court, a week after it took place.
