One of the most powerful emotional axes of the album is the presence of Mimy Succar.
Peruvian producer, percussionist, arranger and musical director Tony Succar announces the global launch of “ASUCCAR”, available from May 28 on all digital platforms. Winner of two Grammys and two Latin Grammys, Tony presents a deeply intimate production that marks a key moment in his career and shows him more free, creative and focused on his own artistic vision. The album brings together a constellation of international figures such as Gilberto Santa Rosa, Luis Enrique, Arturo Sandoval, Noel Schajris, Isabela Merced, Amy Gutiérrez, Nella, Pitingo and Mimy Succar, in a production that crosses styles, generations and cultures within Latin music.
“ASUCCAR is the album that most represents me as an artist. It is a celebration of everything I am musically and of all the influences that have accompanied me throughout my life,” comments Tony Succar about this production. Far from repeated formulas, the musician opts for a sound without borders where salsa, soul, R&B, pop, Latin jazz, flamenco and Peruvian and Japanese influences coexist. “It’s not about finding my identity, but about embracing it completely,” adds the artist, who worked alongside top-level musicians and producers to build a sophisticated, emotional album with great sonic richness.
One of the most powerful emotional axes of the album is the presence of Mimy Succar, Tony’s mother and a fundamental figure in this new artistic stage. After the global impact of their joint project, Mimy participates in three essential pieces of the album: “Azúcar”, “Lo Bueno Come Ya” and “Toki no Nagare ni Mi o Makase”, the latter performed in Japanese and Spanish. The multicultural dimension of the project is also reflected in its visual proposal, where Tony incorporates direct references to his Nikkei heritage and his family history as a central part of his artistic identity.

The album includes moments of high musical impact such as “Afincao” with Gilberto Santa Rosa; “ Quiero Estar Donde Estés ” with Luis Enrique—a tropical reinterpretation of The Jackson 5 classic “I Wanna Be Where You Are”—; “Azúcar” alongside Mimy Succar, Arturo Sandoval, Kenyi Succar and a special appearance by the voice of Celia Cruz; “Something Magical” with Amy Gutiérrez; “Olvidar” with Nella and Pitingo; “Duele” with Jean Rodríguez; “Apocalipsis (Salsa Remix)” with Isabela Merced; “Pisco Sour” with Francisco Morales; as well as a salsa version of “Leave the Door Open”, by Silk Sonic, performed with Noel Schajris and Jean Rodríguez. In each song, Succar reaffirms his ability to dialogue with different genres without losing the salsa essence that defines him.
The title “ASUCCAR” summarizes the concept of the project: a fusion between Antonio – Tony’s first name – and his last name Succar, as well as a nod to the historical expression “Azúcar”, immortalized by Celia Cruz. More than an album, ASUCCAR functions as an artistic statement about identity, family legacy, creative freedom and musical evolution. With this production, Tony Succar reaffirms his place as one of the great contemporary ambassadors of Latin music and opens a new stage with a project that combines excellence, emotion and a musical vision without limits.
