Bad Bunny was announced by the Academy as presenter of the 2024 Oscars in the second group of celebrities who will be in charge of mentioning the nominees and presenting the awards to the winners.
The news unleashed criticism against the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences for inviting the “Safaera” singer to be part of the most important film awards ceremony.
“What does Bad Bunny have to do with it?”, “I feel sorry for the award being presented by Bad Bunny”, “What was Bad Bunny’s contribution to cinema this year?”, “You know everything is wrong when Bad “Bunny is a presenter at the Oscars,” “They have top-notch actors and they bring that guy,” were some of the reactions that Internet users left against the institution in the comments box of the announcement that they shared on Instagram.
The second group of presenters features personalities such as Michael Keaton, Jennifer Lawrence, Chris Hemsworth, Dwayne Johnson, Regina King, Kate McKinnon, Rita Moreno, John Mulaney, Catherine O’Hara, Octavia Spencer and Ramy Youseff.
These presenters join other celebrities such as Jamie Lee Curtis, Michelle Yeoh and Brendan Fraser, who will also appear at the 96th Oscars.
The ceremony will take place on March 10, from the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles, California.
