The European Union This Friday, it sanctioned six individuals who finance the Palestinian Islamist group Hamas, which European countries consider a terrorist organization.

Among those sanctioned are a member of the organization itself who is part of its investment office, as well as a Sudanese financier who manages companies in Hamas’ investment portfolio.

The EU also sanctioned a Jordanian individual, based in Algeria, who has helped manage Hamas‘s investment portfolio abroad.

It also included three Lebanese – the owner and a member of the organization Shuman for Currency Exchange SARL, which has helped launder and transfer tens of millions of dollars to Hamas-, as well as another individual who collaborates with the entity.

The sanctions imply the freezing of property and assets they have in the EU, as well as the prohibition of entering the community territory.

The Twenty-Seven approved these new restrictive measures the same week in which they sanctioned the political leader of Hamas, Yahya Sinwar, whom they have also frozen. its goods and assets in European entities, while it has prohibited other EU operators from financing it.
