The Great Sky Torres is one of the greatest attractions in ‘Queens of Hearts 90s’.
The renowned singer and actress Cielo Torres is one of the protagonists of the expected spectacle ‘Queens of Hearts 90s’, who will bring together figures such as Mayra Goñi, María Grazia Polanco, Natalia Salas, Ximena Palomino and Gina Yangali. The show will premiere on May 22 at the arts dome and will be presented every Thursday, Friday and Saturday until June 28. Tickets are on sale in Teletics.
A few days after the premiere, we talked to Cielo Torres, who told us about his emotion for this project, his musical career, and how love lives at this time in his life.
What does it mean to be part of “Queens of Hearts 90s”?
I had never been in a show with a novel repertoire and with this format, which is more a musical show than a conventional concert. It seems very interesting. I have always liked it and I have seen it in other countries like Colombia. I feel something like this was needed in Peru. In fact, I had wanted it so much that I ended up in this project. The music of the 90s – and also that of the 2000 – has a very special place in me: it is the music that marked my childhood, which accompanied me in my growth. So this show is very significant.
What is your link with the other cast artists?
I have shared scenarios with all at some point. With Gina, Natalia and Ximena we have made theater; with María Grazia, many salsa shows; With Ximena, we even act together in a novel. I have known Mayra for many years, we are not intimate friends who talk every day, but we do have an artistic bond and a special closeness. That gives a plus to the show, because there is chemistry and respect among all.
How is your musical style integrates into this show full of 90’s rhythms?
I love it because the show is very versatile musically, and that defines me. I started singing rock in a band in Tacna, then I made ballads, commercial rock, until I reached the sauce. I feel at home through different genres, and of course I will sing sauce, which is a genre that has given me so many joys. The tropical genre is very special to me.
Are you focused only on music at this time?
Yes, a couple of years ago I decided to get away from the performance to concentrate on composing and producing my music. Last year I launched ‘Dispched songs’ and now, in May, my new salsa album comes out, with five unpublished songs that I prepared with my team and Master Chris. Television is still interested, but I would have to get a project that really moves me to pause music. The radio also catches my attention, I have never done it, that is a slope in my life.

How is your heart? Is there space for love in your life?
My heart is delicate and I take great care. Maybe that makes some people flee, but I think it’s a necessary filter. Being an artist means having an unconventional life, with mad schedules and many absences on important dates. I have not yet found someone who is willing to share that lifestyle with me, but if I arrive, I am open to give myself to love. A relationship requires time and dedication, and so far it has not been the time.
What other plans come to you personally and professional?
I am in an important stage of decisions. I am even considering moving from the country to explore new possibilities, I have thought of Puerto Rico, Mexico, United States … I want to continue music, start new projects, and close this salsa album. Personally, I am open to what life offers me, to what makes me happy. Before I closed more, now I am with my mind and heart willing to what comes, as long as this makes me happy. Do not miss “Queens of Hearts 90’s”, from May 22 in the art dome!
