Public Security authorities confirmed the increase in fatalities, after the Chilean Prosecutor’s Office preliminarily notified five.

These are five men and two women who were inside the damaged truck.
“The relatives of these people are urged to go to the Legal Medical Service to corroborate the identification of these people.“said the representative of the Ministry of Public Security of the Metropolitan Region, Juan Andrés Barrientos.
According to the authorities, a group of people were drinking on public roads and, when they saw the police officers, they fled in a van.

The van, while fleeing, collided with a bus of the public transportation network, in the Franklin neighborhoodsouth of the capital.
Both vehicles collided with a pharmacy and an electricity pole and caught fire, according to videos that circulated on social networks.

The victims would be of Venezuelan nationality, although we would have to wait for DNA tests to confirm their exact identity, indicated the head of Flagrancia of the North Central Prosecutor’s Office, Fernando Ruiz.
“According to the information collected by Carabineros (police force) personnel at the scene, based on interviews with family members, they would all be of Venezuelan nationality.”he added.
According to local media, a passerby managed to rescue the bus driver alive.
