Yolanda Saldívar, perpetrator of the murder of singer Selena Quintanilla in 1995, expressed her desire to become Shakira’s personal assistant once she is released from prison, a possibility that could materialize in March 2025.
The former nurse, currently 63 years old, is serving a life sentence, but her good behavior in prison opened the opportunity for her to apply for parole.
As reported by various media, in a recent interview with BBC Saldívar revealed his intention to return to working life and expressed his admiration for the Colombian singer. “I would like to be Shakira’s right hand,” he said.
The statements generated concern among the artist’s followers, who fear for their safety, according to Infobae.
Saldívar was convicted of the murder of Selena Quintanilla on March 31, 1995, at a hotel in Corpus Christi, Texas. The young Tex-Mex star was murdered after discovering that Saldívar was appropriating funds from the fan club she presided over and from her boutiques.
Saldívar has assured on several occasions that the shooting was an accident, stating that his intention was to commit suicide and not kill Selena. However, Selena’s family claims that everything she says is false and they oppose her release.
Shakira’s fans expressed their rejection on social media at the possibility of Saldívar being released and approaching the “Pies Descalzos” singer.
