Resident Returns Home: ‘The Letters No Longer Matter’ Tour Arrives in Puerto Rico
The multifaceted artist René Pérez Joglar, better known as Residente, has unveiled his long-awaited official tour titled “Las Letras Ya No Importan” after the release of his second album of the same name.
This tour will take Residente to Barcelona, Madrid, New York, Los Angeles, Argentina, Uruguay, Chile, Peru, Colombia, Ecuador, Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador and Puerto Rico, promising a unique musical experience at each stop.
On his native island, Puerto Rico, the event is scheduled for December 7 in the San Juan Convention District. Ticket sales begin this Thursday, March 14 at 10:00 am through Ticketera, in an event produced by Move Concerts and Noah Assad Presents.
“Las Letras Ya No Importan” is a monumental album that features the collaboration of prominent artists such as Penélope Cruz, Ricky Martin, Busta Rhymes, Vico C, Big Daddy Kane, Rauw Alejandro, Christian Nodal, Arcangel, Jessie Reyez, Silvia Pérez Cruz , Ibeyi, WOS, Nino Freestyle, Amal Murkus, SFDK and AI2 El Aldeano.
The album has been a success, recently obtaining gold certification in Mexico for its sales. Additionally, it debuted at number two on Spotify’s “Top Global Debut Albums” chart with its release.
Residente is not only known for his music, but also for his ability to direct his own music videos. “Las Letras Ya No Importan” features a series of visual releases, including “This Is Not America,” “René,” “quiere Ser Baladista with Ricky Martin,” “Problema Cabrón” with WOS, “Ron En El Piso” and the most recent, “313” with Penélope Cruz and Silvia Pérez Cruz, the latter dedicated to the memory of Valentina, a close friend of the artist.
The album cover, with Residente’s hand barely reaching a six-fingered hand, provokes reflection on the importance of art in the digital age and the relevance of artistic production in the face of current algorithmic saturation.
With his self-titled second album, Residente seeks to follow the success of his acclaimed 2017 solo debut, cementing his position as one of the most influential and visionary artists on the Latin music scene.
