SCOURthe extreme metal collective that features an impressive lineup of heavy music veterans, including Philip H. Anselmo (Panther, down), Derek Engemann (Philip H. Anselmo & The Illegals), John Jarvis (Nest, Agoraphobic Nosebleed), Mark Kloeppel (Misery Index) and Adam Jarvis (Pig Destroyer, Misery Index, Lock Up), will release his long-awaited full album, «Gold«, on February 21 via Housecore Records in North America and Nuclear Blast in Europe.
Delving into the experience established in the trilogy of EPs previously released by SCOUR«Gold» drags the listener through a searing vortex of speed, aggression and, above all, absolute horror. Drawing on a deep framework of literary horror masterpieces, “Gold» guides the listener beyond the realm of death and through the metaphysical anomalies of a disordered and decaying mind. In it the veil of a wild universe is lifted, an inconceivable puppet master is revealed, the listener’s remaining self dissolves unbearably and he is left wondering:
“Who is the one pulling the strings?”
Musically, SCOUR fuses the raw aggression of black metal with grindcore, punk and thrash influences, manifesting a sound that honors the roots of extreme metal while pushing it into modern territory. His minimalist approach is relentless and brutal, perfectly embodying this vision.
In anticipation of the launch of «Gold«, the band unveils the first single today, «Infusorium«, and the accompanying video, filmed and edited by Malcolm Pugh.
Engemann comments:
«SCOUR returns to the scene with our new single, ‘Infusorium‘, a relentless mix of intricate guitar work and raw, unrelenting intensity. This track raises the bar, with more intricate guitar work, and a searing solo from Mark Kloeppelwithout a doubt one of his best works that goes straight to the heart.
«Inspired by the disturbing short novel by Jon Padgett‘Infusorium‘, the lyrics channel the disturbing depth and darkness of the story, bringing a literary touch to the metal chaos. As the lead single and first video from our upcoming full-length album, ‘Gold‘, ‘Infusorium‘ shows that Scour is more fierce and dynamic. The boys of SCOUR They are back, more overwhelming than ever!

Forged in 2015, SCOUR It didn’t take long for them to leave their mark with their powerful debut single «Dispatched«. His first release, «The Gray EP» (2016), came through his own Housecore Records of Anselmfollowed by «The Red EP» in 2017. In 2020, SCOUR unleashed his most aggressive effort to date, “The Black EP«, published under housecore and Nuclear Blast Records and with guest appearances from notable figures such as Erik Rutan, Pat O’Brien and the actor Jason Momoa.
And now SCOUR raises its intensity with the announcement of his first full-length album, «Gold«, which includes a single guest of Gary Holt (Slayer, Exodus). The recording of «Gold» started in February 2023 in Nodferatu’s Lairthe personal studio and rehearsal space of Philip Anselmowhere the band concentrated on an effort to achieve a truly diabolical composition, with Anselm in the lead at all times. The entire band could often be found in the control room debating ecstatically, meticulously reflecting on every blast beat and divebomb. The album was refined intermittently and lyrical concepts were finalized throughout 2023, as touring permitted.
Anselm began vocal recordings in autumn 2023 in The Lair. The backing vocal recordings were made by the rest of the band in the stadium dressing rooms during Pantera’s February 2024 tour, where the entire band also thoroughly reviewed the instrumentation mixes. Once SCOUR and the mixing engineer Dennis Israel the tracks were finalized, they were sent to the studio Fascination Street from Örebro, Sweden, so that Jens Bogren I would master them.
Despite his relatively short career, SCOUR He has performed at some of the most important festivals in the world, such as Roskilde, hellfest, Tecate Metal Fest and Maryland Deathfest. With such a powerful pedigree, SCOUR remains a dominant force in both live performances and studio recordings, and fans can expect even more from them in the future.
