“The Government of Peru expresses its strongest condemnation of the deplorable act of violence recorded tonight in the city of Washington,” said a statement released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The official note added that Peru “welcomes the confirmation that all those attending the event, among whom were the president of the United States of America, Donald Trump, the first lady and members of the cabinet, are out of danger.”
“Peru expresses its solidarity with the Government and people of the United States of America in the face of the events that occurred,” he concluded.

The director of the FBI, Kash Patel, indicated this Saturday that the shooter who broke into the Washington hotel where Trump was dining and forced the president to be evacuated, was carrying a long gun when he was detained by the presidential Secret Service.
Although there is no official confirmation, several local media claim that the shooter is a 31-year-old man named Cole Allen who resides in Torrance, in the state of California.

Trump himself shared images of the arrested man on the Truth Social network, including a photograph in which he is seen handcuffed on the hotel floor.
The president and the rest of the senior officials were evacuated from the room where the dinner was being held after three or four shots were heard that echoed outside that room, according to an EFE journalist who was at the gala, which was presided over by a table on a stage where the president and the first lady, Melania Trump, were sitting.
