WWE 2K24 has a new gameplay trailer titled “Legacy,” which shows off more of the scope of the upcoming game than any of its trailers so far. There’s a lot of focus on the Showcase of the Immortals, a mode designed to celebrate 40 years of WrestleMania, and the stars who have been a part of it.
The trailer gives us a look at a handful of different match types, including the previously showcased Ambulance Match, the brand-new Casket Match, and an updated look at Backstage Brawls. We also get a sneak peek at the Special Guest Referee Match, and plenty of footage from various moments that will be playable through the Showcase of the Immortals.
As can be expected, the trailer features a heap of notable WWE Superstars, especially in the segment focused on Showcase of the Immortals. The segment shows a number of WrestleMania’s biggest names, including Hulk Hogan, “Stone Cold” Steve Austin, Rhea Ripley, The Ultimate Warrior, Charlotte Flair, John Cena, Triple H, and The Undertaker. Notably, the trailer also reveals an updated cover for the Forty Years of WrestleMania Edition of WWE 2K24 that omits Brock Lesnar. GameSpot has reached out to 2K to clarify whether or not Lesnar will still feature in the game.
Several more WWE Superstars are revealed for the 2K24 roster towards the end of the trailer, including Seth Rollins, Trish Stratus, Rey Mysterio, and The Judgment Day.
The trailer gives a good look at some of the updates to the Backstage Brawl mode, which will feature more interactive props and environments, including a stop sign, soda machine, trash can, and breakable glass in certain areas.
Also shown is The Undertaker taking on Shawn Michaels in the Casket Match, a new mode for 2K24 that sees players trying to place their opponent in the open casket and closing the lid. We also get a look at Randy Orton, Solo Sikoa, and Kevin Owens in the Special Guest Referee Match, which has the referee getting a little too involved in the match.
GameSpot went hands on with a preview build of WWE 2K24 earlier in February, finding the game to have some exciting new features, and some areas that could do with some improvements before the game’s release. WWE 2K24 arrives on March 8 for PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, and Xbox One.
