Magnolia Park (sort of) traded in their pop-punk panache for a nu metal motif, but that doesn’t mean they went soft whatsoever, even if their latest song is acoustic. Just in time for Halloween, the Florida outfit have unleashed a stripped-down take on their smash single “Shallow” off their album VAMP.
In that same review, I suggested that this song should get an acoustic version, and while I’m not completely delulu and thinking that my nudging helped make this happen, I will say that I feel seen at this moment.
The acoustic “Shallow” layers vocals by singer Joshua Roberts beautifully, bringing an uncanny allure to this breakup song. It is a cinematic take on an already deep song, as if they’re taking a page from Motionless in White’s Motion Picture Collection series.
