Five members of the Coast Guard have died after their aircraft collided with a commercial flight at a Tokyo airport, a crash that produced a major fire that forced the evacuation of the 379 occupants of the Japan Airlines commercial plane, confirmed the authorities of Japan.

The event occurred when Japan Airlines flight 516 from Sapporo (north of the country) collided with the coast guard plane as soon as it landed at 5:47 p.m. local time (9:47 a.m. GMT) in Haneda, one of the two international airports serving the Japanese capital.

One of the commercial flight’s engines caught fire then, although the fire was later put out by firefighters, while all the airport’s runways were closed.

Of the 379 occupants of the Japan Airlines plane (367 passengers and 12 crew) who were evacuated, 17 have been injured, while of the six occupants of the Coast Guard aircraft, only the captain, who He is seriously injured, he has managed to survive.
