«’Stained in Red‘ was written during the pandemic as an antidote to the lighter, more acoustic material we were coming up with. After the sweetest ‘Silver Moon‘EP, I wanted to write something more aggressive and heavier,’ he says. «As the album would have been too long, we left these three songs out of the initial version, but they are part of the story of ‘Year 1696‘ and they complement it, and some of the gaps are being filled. ‘Songs Of The Dusk‘ offers an alternative ending, so that everyone can decide which mood they prefer. This version is a little more hopeful and less tragic, at least on the general scale of Insomnium: everyone is dead… except the wolves.
