The devastating winds of Hurricane Miltonwhich made landfall on the west coast of Florida on Wednesday night, tore off the roof of the Tampa Bay Rays professional baseball team’s stadium, images obtained by AFP show.

Images taken by a drone over the stadium, located in St. Petersburg, the Tampa Bay city where Tropicana Field is located, show the white plastic structure that covers the stadium in shreds.

Pieces of the roof can be seen scattered on the playing field as well as in the stands. The metal structure of the dome, on the other hand, resisted the passage ofMilton.

With a record of 80 wins and 82 losses in their 2024 season, the Rays failed to qualify for the playoffs, which have just begun. Therefore, the next game at Tropicana Field will not take place for several months.

The hurricaneMiltonIt made landfall on the west coast of Florida on Wednesday night, with winds of up to 165 km/h, according to the US National Hurricane Center (NHC).
