Rap metal supergroup Gridiron surprised fans today at noon by releasing their brand-new EP LIGHTS OUT. The EP “features two brand new bangers laced with the type of hardcore grooves that Gridiron have steadily built their reputation on” and remixes by Not A Friend and NOWHERE2RUN (aka Code Orange’s Jami Morgan and Eric “Shade” Balderose).
LIGHTS OUT is the follow-up to last year’s Poetry From Pain. Along with the four-track EP, the band released a music video for the title track, “Lights Out.” lead singer Matt Karl had this to say about the track:
“Lights Out” is a track about revenge, a track about counting your chickens before they hatch. A song about going out and getting back what’s yours
What began as a project during the COVID-19 pandemic eventually became a full-time band, bringing together musicians from the Philadelphia, Delaware, and Michigan areas. The band is comprised of lead singer Matt Karll, guitarist/vocalist Will Kaelin (Never Ending Game), guitarist Xavier Wilson (Simulakra), bassist Jake Abbottand drummer Tyler Mullen (Scarab).
LIGHTS OUT track listing:
1. Lights Out
2. Long Haul
3. Tombstone (NOWHERE2RUN Remix)
4. Army Of None (Not A Friend Remix)
The band recently finished a UK tour with MISSING LINK and will be heading back to the continent in June for their European Invasion Tour, which will include festival stops such as Rock For People, hellfestand Resurrection Fest.
