A new cinematic trailer for Greedfall 2 has debuted during Nacon Connect, showing off more of the game’s colonial-fantasy setting and confirming an early access launch window of Summer 2024 on PC. Set three years before the first Greedfall, the prequel puts you in control of a new protagonist who has been uprooted from their home and transported to the continent of Gacane, a land ravaged by war, industrialization, and politicians.
While the first Greedfall game casts you as a Gacane colonist exploring a new land, Greedfall 2: The Dying World flips the script as you play as a Teer Fradee native seeking to regain their freedom in a world scarred by the Malichor plague.
“If I could use one word to describe Greedfall 2, it would be ‘discovery’. What we wanted to do was keep doing what we did for the first game but with much more of a focus on exploration,” art director Cyril Tahmassebi said during the Nacon Connect livestream. “And we wanted to improve on that unique and Rembrandt-inspired art design and golden century feel. Where we were, to a certain degree, confined to an island in the first game, this time we are confronted with the continent of Gacane, which “It is an old continent with lots of great nations.”
Developer Spiders will continue work on Greedfall 2, which was first announced in 2022. The developer recently released Steelrising–imagine Dark Souls mixed with a French robot revolution–and Spiders previously mentioned that it’s aiming for a more tactical combat experience with Greedfall 2 .
Greedfall 2: The Dying World will also be released on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S in the future.
