He is known throughout the world as Feid, but before becoming world famous, the Colombian used another stage name.
Salomón Villada Hoyos is a Colombian singer and composer known worldwide as Feid. Currently he is one of the most popular artists in urban music thanks to ‘Yandel 150’ and ‘Bubalu’. However, most of his fans are unaware that in his early days in music he used another stage name. We tell you the story.
What was the stage name Feid used?
When he was still a teenager, the artist, actually known as Salomón Villada Hoyos, was full of enthusiasm to start his musical career under the name Rayo. His first singles, released independently, carried this distinction.
However, it was when confusion began to arise between him and his music with the Colombian duo Rayo y Toby, already established in San Andrés, that he decided to undertake the search for a second option.
“All the partners (friends) at school said that they heard my song on the radio and one day when I was listening to the radio, I found out that it was theirs. [de Rayo y Toby] and not mine. That’s when I said, ‘No, music is not my thing… this is going to be a problem,’ the singer said in an interview for Billboard.
Why did you decide to call yourself Feid?
“Really, it was because the first interview I ever had in my life, the person who was interviewing me said ‘fa-di’ to me, and I kind of didn’t want to have that problem because it was so awkward telling the person how to say my name.” explained Feid, who highlighted that he began using this stage name officially since 2010.
