The Ballad of Judas Priesta new documentary the legendary band of Nwobhm and members of the Rock and Roll Hall of Famewill be released by Sony Music Vision. Information about its launch was not yet launched, which is co-direct by the documentary filmmaker Sam Dunnwho, in addition, is a musician, anthropologist and known by documentaries about the Metal such as Metal: a Headbenger´s Journey (2005) and Metal Evolution (2011-2012). The address will be in charge of the guitarist of Rage Against The Machine, Tom Morellowho, in this case, will debut as director.
Originally from the humble working class of Birmingham, the United Kingdom, Judas Priest has become, as we all know, in true pioneers within heavy metal. The band has sold more than 50 million albums and launched 19 studio albums over more than 50 years of career. With its 2024 launch, Invincible Shieldthe band became the first Heavy Metal group to launch an album with more than 50 years of experience.
The documentary title as well as the band, are inspired by the song of Bob Dylan launched in 1967, called The Ballad of Frankie Lee and Judas Priest.
In a collective statement, the members of the band said: “We have lived and breathed metal for more than five decades, and finally in this documentary we are calling our parishioners to witness our welcome without censorship, never before seen before … The cassock emerges, revealing the priest throughout his metal glory!”
“While some may know Judas Priest for their great hits, which have delineated the genre of heavy metal, there is much more in their history,” this is what the co-directors said Morello and Dunn. «Tracking its incredible 50 -year -old journey, this film will capture how Judas Priest defined both the sound and the metal look and how, in addition, it made the genre a more inclusive place over time. The documentary is a Banger Films production and will be directed by Dunn and Morello. Among the producers are Scot McFadyen and Sam Dunn. Executive producers are Tom Morello, Rick Krim, Sheila Stepanek and Jayne Andrews. Tom Mackay, Kristan Wegener and Abby Davis are executive producers for Sony Music Vision. Sylvia Rhone is the executive producer for Epic Records. The FIME will be presented and distributed by Sony Music Vision.
