The talented Puerto Rican singer, Anuel AA, managed to captivate the world with his unique style that combines reggaeton, rap and trap. His real name is Enmanuel Gazmey, he was born on November 27, 1992 in Santiago, Carolina, Puerto Rico.
How did Anuel AA start his musical career?

Who are Anuel AA’s parents?
Anuel AA grew up in a residential complex in Carolina, Puerto Rico. Her mother was raised in Milwaukee and hers was José Gazmey, an Afro-Puerto Rican who held a prominent position as vice president in Sony Music’s local A&R division.
Since his childhood, the musical environment surrounded Anuel AA, with his father immersed in the world of salsa alongside legendary figures such as Héctor Lavoe and Fania All-Stars. Although he did not consider himself a follower of this particular genre, young Anuel vividly remembers how his father’s interaction with these artists sparked his interest in the recording industry.
However, the winds changed when his father lost his job and Anuel was barely fifteen years old. Financial pressure took hold on the family, and he became involved in what Rolling Stone magazine would describe as a more street-oriented life.

Why was Anuel AA in jail?
Anuel’s life has been marked by several controversies; on April 3, 2016, the singer was arrested for possession of weapons when leaving a nightclub in Puerto Rico. During the police check, three pistols were confiscated, one of which was reported stolen.
Among the weapons seized were a Glock model 23 .40 caliber, another Glock model 30 .45 caliber and a third Glock model 19 9 mm caliber. In addition to these pistols, nine magazines and one hundred and fifty-two ammunition were found in a 2007 Honda Accord car. However, this fact led his followers to create the “Free Anuel” campaign demanding his release.
After two years, one month and nine days in prison, Anuel AA was released on May 12, 2018, but returned to prison 22 days later to serve the remainder of his sentence.
Finally, on July 17, 2018, Anuel AA was released from prison permanently, serving his 30-month sentence. That same day, he surprised everyone with the release of an unreleased album titled “Real Hasta La Muerte.”
