The Andorran extreme metal prog unit, PERSEPHONEbegins strongly in 2024. His captivating and powerful new single, «The Equatable«, has been published along with an immersive official video, which is a video art created by Ferro Graphica guitarist art and design company Philip and your partner. This comes just before the band kick off their first European tour, kicking off at Henglo on February 10, and release their new EP, «Lingua Ignota: Part I«, this Friday, February 2 via Napalm Records.

The EP begins a new era for PERSEPHONEgiven that “Lingua Ignota: Part I» is the first release with the band’s new vocalist, Daniel Rodriguez Flys, who had already joined the band on several tours in the past. Additionally, the band has recently announced another major milestone in their career: an exclusive orchestral show in their native Andorra on May 4, which will be recorded and is already sold out due to high demand.

Acclaimed on the global metal scene, PERSEPHONE has previously taken over the live stages of huge festivals such as Wacken Open Air, Brutal Assault and 70,000 Tons of Metaland has toured with many renowned artists, such as Dark and Ne Obliviscaris on their 2023 European tour. They have also toured South America as headliners and their European headline tour is scheduled for February 2024.

The guitarist Carlos Lozano comments:

«Write the music for’Lingua Ignota Pt. I‘It has been a journey in itself. We ask ourselves all the time how to explore different ways to make our sound fresh, how to avoid old patterns and mannerisms, and often this leads to endless layers of rhythmic and harmonic complexity added to songs. When we had to board ‘The Equatable‘, we realized that bravery wasn’t about going crazy with our own abilities, since we’d done that in the past… but about stripping the song of everything that made us feel comfortable. ‘The Equatable‘It’s the most honest and simple thing we’ve been able to do. When the song was ready, we were both in love and scared with it, and we think this is the right way to feel to reach new places. We hope you find joy in these notes.

Technical prowess and elements of modern progressive metal steeped in melodic death metal influences are at the core of the sound of PERSEPHONEand the group’s new vocalist, Daniel Rodríguez Flys, brings a fresh touch to his first album with the band. As a successor to the impressive 2022 release, metanoia, PERSEPHONE expand «Lingua Ignota: Part I» – his collaboration with the renowned David Castillo – who produced, recorded and mixed the new album in Studio Gröndahl in Stockholm, Sweden. Castle is well known for his phenomenal work with giants of the genre such as Opeth, Dark Tranquility and Leprousas well as with his label mates Katatonia and Candlemass.

Sneaking in with a hauntingly beautiful intro, keyboards and electronic influences build the atmosphere on the opening track «Sounds And Vessels» before the screaming leads to a brutal breakdown. After such an abrupt ending, the impressive second song, «One words«, starts with drums, screams and growls before introducing a melodic and catchy chorus. The church bells ring for «The Equatable«, and the listener is carried away by irresistible heavy riffs that lead to a massive chorus. Beginning with surprisingly delicate guitar melodies and chanted vocals, the beautiful title track, “Lingua Ignota«, impresses with skillful instrumentation and exceptionally rich soundscapes. The cinematic final theme «Abyssal Communication» close «Lingua Ignota: Part I«.

The new proposal of PERSEPHONE convinces with top-notch songwriting that keeps the listener captivated throughout the album, showcasing an impressive variety of soundscapes and proving once again that this band cannot be pigeonholed.
