Armed men robbed the dealership of a security company this Friday in Bogota 16 armored vans that were destined for the National Protection Unit (UNP), the organization that offers security to authorities and protected people in Colombia.
The robbery occurred at dawn in the company’s workshop-yard Security Rent Corpin the neighborhood Suba of Bogotáwhere the vans were being prepared to be delivered to the UNP, which had them destined for magistrates of the Special Justice for Peace (JEP) and the courts of the Judiciary, explained the director of the UNP, Augusto Rodriguezin a press conference.
“Once the theft was brought to the attention of the Police, they managed to recover 6 of the 16 trucks in the area of Kennedy in Bogota”specified Rodríguez, who clarified that the vehicles are not yet owned by the institution, which was pending to lease them to the company through a tender.
Furthermore, the police operation deployed has also made it possible to carry out “some catches”.
The robbery was carried out by about 20 armed men “that they arrived at the patio where the company keeps the vehicles for the provision”, where they installed GPS jammers to prevent your location.
Each of the vans costs nearly 500 million Colombian pesos (about $127,500), Rodríguez added.
