56.8% of these (708,716 people) have an irregular immigration status; that is, he remains in Peru even though “their term of permanence expired” either “entered the country without having completed immigration control”.

There is an important detail: in Peru, according to official records, 1,083,422 foreign citizens from 194 countries in the world are in an irregular immigration situation. Of them, 65.4% (708,716 people) come from Venezuela.

On the other hand, 383,861 (30.8%) Venezuelan citizens reside in Peru with all documents in order, while 155,365 (12.4%) are in the process of regularizing their immigration status.

In 2015, 226 people from Venezuela entered the country. A year later, in 2016, the number of migrants from that country reached 7,392. In 2017, the number rose to 59,811 Venezuelan citizens in Peru.

In the document, he added that Peru will adopt measures to restrict entry into the country. “in accordance with the free exercise of our sovereignty in favor of internal order and national security, with respect to the people who have been sanctioned, in order to prevent them from using Peru to evade justice”.
