At the moment, Márquez’s party has not publicly commented on the incident, which occurs after the arrest this Tuesday of six opposition politicians, according to anti-Chavismo, in addition to the reported “disappearance” of activist Carlos Correa and the “kidnapping” of opposition leader’s son-in-law Edmundo González Urrutia, Rafael Tudaresin Caracas.
Marquezalso former vice president of the National Electoral Council (CNE) and former deputydemanded on numerous occasions the publication of the minutes of the July votes, and rejected the ruling of the Supreme Court of Justice (TSJ) that validated the controversial re-election of Maduro proclaimed by the electoral body.
On December 31, Márquez assured that the political “will for change” of Venezuelans is “intact”despite the fact that both the CNE and the TSJ – he said – “placed themselves on the margins” of the Constitution.
