Reunion of Hagar and Anthony the Genesis of the Tribute Tour

Recently, Hagar says he and Anthony decided to perform songs from their days playing in Van Halen at Hagar’s annual Birthday Bash last month in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. Here’s Sammy Hagar‘s press statement:

“We pulled out a couple of them, and it was an instant lovefest with the fans from our first riffs. The music we created is going to outlive us all. They deserve to be heard, so it’s time we go out and serve the fans that music while we still can.”

Tribute Tour Bound to Spur Sales or Remastered Albums

Coming off the heels of the re-release of the remastered versions of the four albums of the “Van Hagar” era of the band, this seems like perfect timing for their fans who are sure to troop out in thousands to watch them live in concert. No new album or new songs are currently in the works, but we wouldn’t be surprised to see this lineup of the Van Halen Tribute tour to release a live album – time will tell.

The four remastered albums were 5150 (1986), OU812 (1988), For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge (1991), and Balance (1995) and joining the quartet on tour to play songs from these albums on the keyboard and, through his backing vocals will be Australian musician Rai Thistlethwayte.

Van Halen In-house Drama

Many are wondering why original member, Alex Van Halen is not playing drums for this Tribute tour to his brother and the band he rock band he helped create in the 70s.

Even Eddie‘s are, Wolfgang Van Halenweighed in on the internal troubles the iconic rock-and-roll band has suffered from for years in an interview with Classic Rock in November of 2022, “When it comes to Van Halen and entities surrounding the band it’s unfortunate… I don’t know what it is with some bands but certain personalities just can’t get over themselves to work collectively for one purpose – that’s been the curse of Van Halen for their entire career.”

But it seems vocalist Sammy Hagar is ready to bury the hatchet and invited not only Alex Van Halen but also original VH frontman David Lee Roth to join them onstage for a reunion for this tribute tour, as you can see from this live interview with the rock band on the Howard Stern Show on November 15th.

Preparing for the Best of All Worlds Tribute Tour

In preparation for the tour, the tribute band has been fine-tuning their setlist and stage production to recreate the larger-than-life concerts that the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame band Van Halen, was known for. From the unmistakable riffs of “Eruption“to the anthemic chorus of”Jump“Audiences can expect a meticulously crafted set that pays homage to the showmanship of the original members. No word yet as if Eddie Van Halen‘s are, Wolfgang Van Halenwill make a guest appearance but we wouldn’t be surprised to at least see him somewhere backstage.
