The tremor was felt in the coastal part of Orange and Los Angeles counties, according to the USGS.

The earthquake occurred at 8:27 local time (16:27 GMT), and its epicenter was located about 16 kilometers southwest of the community of San Pedro and 18 kilometers southeast of the coastal Rancho Palos Verdes, all located in Los Angeles County.

There is no risk of tsunami, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).
