Thousands of followers of the former far-right president They demonstrated this Sunday in the economic capital of , to request the departure of the supreme court judge who is handling the case against the Bolsonaristas accused of invading public powers on January 8.

The march, along the central avenue Paulistabrought together nearly 3,000 people, many of them dressed in the national colors – green and yellow – and waving the Brazilian flag, an AFP photographer observed.

Some protesters raised a banner that read “Out of Xandão” in reference to the judge of the Supreme Federal Court (STF) Alexandre de Moraes, who handles cases for the invasion of the headquarters of public powers in Brasilia on January 8th.

That day thousands of followers of Bolsonaro (2019-2022) crossed the security perimeters and invaded the presidential palace, as well as the headquarters of the Congress and the STF, destroying furniture and works of art, in a call to the military to depose the leftist president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.

Several have been sentenced to harsh sentences of more than 10 years in prison, for charges including coup.

Among the protesters, there was also a banner with the faces of Bolsonaro, Javier Mileithe far-right elected president of Argentina; and the former US president donald trump.

But the former ruler did not attend.

Bolsonaro faces an accusation sent to Justice by a commission of the Congress of Brazil by “coup”, due to the riot carried out by his followers.

In addition, he is being investigated in the Supreme Federal Court for allegedly instigating these attacks.

The former ruler is prevented from participating in elections for eight years, after the STF found him guilty of abuse of power in several instances during the 2022 election campaign.
