The van in which the Peronist leader was traveling Juan Manuel Urtubeyformer governor of the northern Argentine province of Jump and candidate for national senator for the October 26 elections, was hit by a bullet while the politician was heading to a campaign event, according to the police report of the incident to which EFE had access.
The episode occurred this Thursday, when Urtubey, candidate of the opposition Peronist front Homeland Forcewas traveling in his company’s van, along with three collaborators, from the city of Oran to the department of Antain Jump (northwest Argentina).

“From one moment to the next he suffered a bullet impact towards the left rear window of the vehicle (…) which caused the glass to completely break.“, details the complaint filed by Carlos María García BesUrtubey’s driver and secretary, at a police station in the Salta city of Saint Lawrence.
There were no injuries in the episode.
García Bes, who was driving the truck, maintained that “The damage was caused by a gunshot.” and clarified that “It was not a simple projectile”.
He Fiscal Investigation Corps carried out tests on the vehicle, with the aim of determining if the damage was actually caused by a gunshot and establishing the trajectory of the impact.
The results of these tests have not yet been released.

The Peronist leader, 56 years old, was a national deputy between 1999 and 2007 and governed Salta between 2007 and 2019.
