This shocking incident generated a lot of controversy on the covers of different media, mainly in Puerto Rico, where Jowell & Randy were in the eye of the storm when they were linked to ‘Fritanga’, a Colombian n4rc0trafic4ant3 who became the leader of the criminal structure. ‘The Urabeños’. But how did this happen? Well, let’s review one of the moments that called into question the integrity of reggaetón figures.
The event occurred in 2012, when Camilo Torres Martínez, alias ‘Fritanga’, head of the also known Clan del Golfo, was captured in the middle of celebrating his marriage in the company of renowned artists, including the duo of ‘los más looses’. .
In that sense, Jowell himself revealed some time ago for ‘Molusco TV’ how this event happened, where Arcangel was also found, who precisely in the videos published in different media, was lying face down, in the presence of the law enforcement officers.
“I’m going to speak clearly to you and I’m going to explain that to you quickly: in 2012 we went to sing for a very famous n4rc0trafic4nt3, his name is ‘Fritanga’. The guy was the leader of a cartel in Colombia known as ‘Los Urabeños’, and he did a seven-day activity for which he invited ‘El gran combo’, Silvestre Dangond, Ñejo and Dálmata. To all these ‘toughs’ over there,” the Puerto Rican explained.
“For the last day he decided to take Jowell and Randy, and also Arcangel, but when we are playing, helicopters and boats begin to arrive at the site. A terrible flurry! “They threw everyone to the floor, that’s on YouTube and you can see Arcangel lying on the floor of the stage,” Jowell highlighted about the party for which they paid him $100,000.
Seeing that they were famous artists who only presented their live show as part of their professional activities, the police released the singers they found there. However, the ordeal began the next day, when they were on the cover of the main newspapers in Puerto Rico.
“We didn’t have legal problems for that, but when we arrived in Puerto Rico we were on the front page, everyone was talking about us and although legally they couldn’t do anything, they did keep an eye on us and, in less than a week, I had those guys (Ministry of Finance) knocking on my door (…) The thing is that at that time we were crazy, we were not organized or anything and they had been asking me for the books since 2008, but I didn’t have them, I didn’t even have enough to justify one of the videos I made at that time,” he revealed.
Within this conversation, Jowell reiterated that to date he continues to pay a large debt and, although “it was a pretty strong blow,” he added that this did not stop a career that later continued to reap successes. However, he regretted not having built his career with all the regulations of the law from the beginning, since he admits that there were billions that he lost count of.
Incidentally, ‘Fritanga’ prior to his capture had faked his death with a false Civil Death Registry, which is why he was completely surprised by the National Police during the celebration of his marriage on the island of Múcura, where he celebrated during a week and spent close to 1.5 billion pesos and had a list of 220 guests for the event.
