For twenty years, THE ABSENCE has flown the flag for melodic death metal in Florida, and the flag still flies today. The group, which is now being forged as a power-trio of Jamie Stewart (Hot Graves) to the voice, Jeramie Kling (Inhuman Conditionex-Venom Inc.) on drums and backing vocals, and Taylor Nordberg (Deicide, Inhuman Condition, Umbilicus) on guitar and bass, will release his sixth, self-titled album on March 29 on his own Listenable Insanity Records of Kling/Nordbergwith digital distribution through Blood Blast Distribution.
The band’s fierce new single, “The Silent Eye«, is now on sale with an accompanying video that can be seen below.
The vocalist Jamie Stewart said about the single:
«’The Silent Eye‘ is about the calm before the storm, literal and/or metaphorical. When things are seemingly calmer, there is a silence you can’t trust. Before you know it, a huge storm crushes you, destroying everything you hold dear.
The art of the album has been done by Dan “Babe Ruth” Goldsworthy (Inhuman Condition, Corpsegrinder, Tim “Ripper” Owens, Accept). The album was recorded, mixed and mastered by Jeramie Kling and Taylor Nordberg in Smoke & Mirrors Productions in Spring Hill, Florida.
The album will be available on CD at bandcamp, and digital platforms. The band will also release a bonus disc containing a re-recorded version of “Necropolis«, a version of Iron Maidenacoustic versions of songs by ABSENCEand some other hidden gems.
