Frequent guest DVS1 has been named a 2025 guest resident at Chicago’s Smartbar.
The Minneapolis techno artist, founder of HUSH and cult label Mistress and the DJ revenue sharing platform Aslice, DVS1 (aka Zak Khutoretsky) has been a Midwest techno stalwart almost from the earliest moment that term could have been applied.
The relationship with Smartbar goes back nearly as far: in 2014, DVS1 was one of two “artists in residence” at the legendary Chicago nightclub.
DVS1’s residency will be launched at a new party called Flowers of Romance (named after, one presumes, Sid Vicious’ band with Viv Albertine, Jo Faull, Sarah Hall and others prior to his joining the Sex Pistols and the 1981 Public Image Ltd album and single) with fellow Smartbar resident Justin Aulis Long on January 31 2024 .The two last shared a bill in Chicago back in June.
