‘Puntería’, by Shakira, has been chosen as the official song for the Copa América soccer tournament, which will be held from June 20 to July 14 in the United States with sixteen teams from Conmebol and CONCACAF.
“It is the most important football event of the year because we know that this song is going to be the sound of summer for fans around the world. “It is the power of our culture and our music,” Shakira told Univision after revealing the news.
This is the third time that Shakira has provided music with an official song for a major soccer championship. In 2010 ‘Waka waka’ was the song of the World Cup in South Africa and ‘La la’ of the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
The Colombian’s fans are already waiting to see the singer presenting this song, as they still remember her appearance at the Super Bowl halftime in 2020 in Miami, which marked a milestone in her artistic career.
“You travel, you reach all parts of the world and I have been searching throughout my career to be part of how music has the ability to transcend borders, languages and cultures,” Shakira concluded.
