The singer Shakira said this Wednesday in an interview that ‘Última’ will be the last song she writes about her ex-partner, the former Spanish soccer player Gerard Piqué, a relationship that broke up in 2022 after 11 years of living together.

During an interview on Apple Music 1, Shakira, 47, spoke about her musical career and said that ‘Última’, a song from her new album ‘Las Mujeres No Ya Lloran’, which will be released next Friday, was written when “The album was literally closed and there was no more time.”

“I told myself, I have one more song here and I have to spit it out or I won’t be able to do it, you know. I will drown. I need to get this out,” she noted in the interview.

For the ‘Hips Don’t Lie’ singer, it was “uncomfortable” to deal with the possibility of not releasing the song, since the managers of Sony, the record company, said that there was no more time and that this could delay the album’s release. , reported the American weekly magazine People.

Apparently Shakira recorded and mixed the song, which was “a great relief” for her, and when she performed it in front of the company’s directors, it caused “a surprising reaction” in them, the outlet adds.

“When I played this song for Sony’s head of marketing, he came over and started crying. I had never seen a man cry in my studio before. I have seen many women cry in my studio, but no men. Uh, but he is a big softie,” said the Colombian.

The album, which has 16 compositions, includes a new song with Bizarrap, as well as a remix of his popular session with the Argentine and new collaborations with Rauw Alejandro, Cardi B, Grupo Frontera, among others.

‘Women Don’t Cry’ is the artist’s twelfth studio album, and her record label Sony Music describes it as “a dazzling testimony to Shakira’s resilience and strength, as well as the power of music to transform the most difficult experiences.” in valuable moments.”

The album will come out with four different artwork editions; each accompanied by an exclusive colored vinyl variant.

It will come in red, sapphire, emerald and diamond. The latter color will be available in general stores, while the sale of the previous ones is limited to specific websites and locations.

Shakira and Piqué confirmed their breakup in June 2022 through a statement in which they asked for respect for their family and privacy. Months after a legal battle between the couple, they managed to reach an agreement for the well-being of their children.
