Selena Gómez offered an interview for Time magazine. The singer’s Rare Beauty brand of makeup products was listed as one of the most influential brands according to this magazine. In the conversation, Gómez talked about the plans she had before starting her relationship with Benny Blanco.
Selena Gómez was single for five years after her breakup with singer The Weekend. During that time, as she explains, she got used to being alone although the first two years were difficult for her.
“I was alone for five years and I got very used to it. A lot of people are afraid of being alone and I probably tortured myself mentally for two years being alone, and then I accepted it,” she said.
Selena Gómez planned to adopt
It was during that time that she was single that she planned that if she didn’t have a relationship, she would adopt a baby at the age of 35.
“Then I came up with my plan, which I was going to adopt at 35 if I hadn’t met anyone,” the singer said.
However, this plan seems not to materialize. The singer began a relationship with Benny Blanco in 2023. This relationship started as a friendship and then turned into something more.
Benny and Selena were friends but the singer realized she liked him when he took her to meet a friend. “It just happens when you least expect it,” she said in the interview.
Selena Gómez referred to the criticism she has received for her relationship, but the artist highlighted her boyfriend’s power to not let the comments affect him. “I know what people can do to the people I love. My own fans, who I adore and feel have shaped who I am, will tell me the most hurtful things about how I live my life. But he has the strength in him not to be fazed by any of that noise. He is truly impressive and I cherish every moment with him. “I don’t know what the future holds, but I do know it’s not going anywhere anytime soon.”
