Hall H exploded on Saturday night during the Marvel presentation at San Diego Comic-Con. Joe and Anthony Russo returned to the stage to announce two new MCU projects starring none other than Robert Downey Jr.—but not as Iron Man. No, he’s returning to the franchise as the villainous Victor von Doom.

The Russos are returning to helm two new Avengers movies: Doomsday and Secret Wars. Clearly, this is how Feige and co have decided to pivot away from the scratched Kang plan of old after parting ways with Jonathan Majors when he was convicted of domestic violence.

Even before the Russos took the stage, Hall H was having a Marvel-style party for the ages. The Marvel Studios panel never disappoints. It couldn’t. The rabid fanbase gathered in Hall H goes wild for nearly everything announced, even if it’s just the films to come in 2025 (nothing about Disney+ series) and a few May releases for 2026 and 2027.

And yet somehow, Feige outdid himself with a Deadpool choir, a flying Fantastic Four car and, of course, the biggest superhero movie news to come out of this year’s convention.

The panel began with a victory lap by Feige, coming off the high of Deadpool & Wolverine breaking records for the biggest opening weekend of an R-Rated film. He’d also accidentally picked up a Guinness Book of World Records award for the largest fictional character drone show in history for Thursday’s spectacular stunt. What else could he do but bring dozens of dancing Dedpools and a choir to sing Madonna?

But Hall H is for looking forward not back, and that’s what Feige did, with a notably truncated rollout of footage for three films: Captain America: New World Order, Thunderboltsand The Fantastic Fourwhich begins filming in August 2024. Harrison Ford entered Hall H and revealed he will play Red Hulk in New World Orderand Feige showed footage from Thunderbolts of Yelena (Florence Pugh) and Alexi (David Harbourwho came to the panel in costume) reteaming and then uniting with the full team.

Avengers: Doomsday is currently slated for May 2026 and Avengers: Secret Wars is currently scheduled for May 2027.
