On November 24, the Dutch artist surprised everyone at the Free Your Mind Festival by presenting Hardkar’s creation
Born in Alphen aan den Rijn, a Dutch city of approximately 70,000 inhabitants, Reinier, began in music at a young age playing the piano, but it would not be until university, after attending several raves, until he became interested in electronic music, spending all his savings on his first synthesizers to start producing. Starting in 2015, he would begin to dedicate himself exclusively to music, gradually increasing his popularity and publishing on high-level labels such as Still Vor Talent, Minuseseither Intec among others. Just two years later he would create Filth on Acidhis own record label, which over time has become one of the most important in the techno scene, having releases with producers of the level of Carl Cox, Thread, Klankuenstler, Space 92 or other world-class artists.
In his role as a DJ, he is also one of the great references worldwide, performing at the best festivals and clubs in the world such as Awkenings either Tomorrowland where he is one of the regulars at the different events they do. Among other things, this is due, thanks to the format you use to run your sessions; he live. A modality that is characterized by performing a set without the use of pre-recorded songs. Creating songs in real time through the use of different hardware such as synthesizers, drum machines, pianos, samplers, Midi controllers… Therefore, the past August 5the Dutchman made history by breaking a new Guinness record for the longest electronic music live; with a set of 11 hours and 11 minutes, precisely in Free Your Mind Festivalwhere I announce Hardkar.
Reinier Zonneveld breaks the Guinness Record for the longest electronic live.
Just as we have commented previously, Reinier Zonneveld, wants to continue expanding his legend and this time he wants to do it in an area where he had not previously entered, such as hardcore. A change that certainly no one expected, but coming from a Dutch artist, the benchmark country in this genre, and knowing his versatility when it comes to producing, everything agrees more. Still, in retrospect, he left a small clue, when the previous October 13 released a remix with Angerfist of his mythical song ‘Take U Back‘. An adaptation that, except for the beginning of the song and the kick, which are clearly hard techno; the rest seems hardcore. Precisely, his own Angerfist, also made the same change, but in direction or position. Moving into techno with the creation of his new alias M4ZE PUSHER which he presented on April 19.
How could it not be otherwise, Hardkar will perform their sets in format live. As she has reported on her social networks and could be seen on Free Your Mind Festivalthe style that will play will be nothing more and nothing less than early hardcore; a genre that despite being very old, drives fans of the hard scene crazy thanks to its melodies and synths that look like something out of a symphony orchestra. All this seems to combine with classic remixes and powerful kicks hard techno. An aspect that was not so directly seen in the hard techno of recent years, thanks to the recycling of characteristic sounds of early hardstyle, but this time the renowned DJ and producer wants to link it in a more clear way. Trying to unify the public from both sides; hardcore and techno that have always seemed so separate.
If you have a notebook on hand, grab a pen and write down what set up you will use. Hardkar for their lives:
Allen & Heath Xone 96: This mixer is vital in your sets for equalize the different channels you use. Each channel is configured with different hardware (synthesizer, pad, drum machine…).
Roland TR-909 Rhythm ComposeA: It is one of the jewels of your set up. This currently out of production 80’s analog drum machine; is used for release samples that come predefined on the TR-909, such as kicks, hi-hats, toms…
Native Instruments Maschine MK3: This pad is one of your essential in their lives. Possibly the hardware that I use the most along with the mixer and I mainly use it to drop samples.
Roland SH-101 Synthesizer: Lastly, this 80’s analog synthesizer is used to, create melodies and synths that can be modified to the DJ’s liking.
How could it be otherwise, all this is monitored by the program Ableton Live 11 that he has on his Apple MacBook, where he saves different samples and sounds that he releases throughout the set.
This news once again shows the versatility and capacity of Reinier Zonneveld To generate renewed rhythms and unify them. This time entering two disciplines such as hard techno and hardcore; some styles that until today had not been played despite the forcefulness of some tracks produced with Filth on Acid. The artist’s fans have already commented that they want to see him soon at a hard festival like Defqon.1 so we will have to be attentive in the coming months to see if it sneaks into any posters.
