It turns out begging Porter Robinson to return to him Worlds-era sound works after all—it just took a decade.

In honor of the tenth anniversary of Robinson’s breakout album, he has unearthed and released a track that didn’t make the cut back in 2014. Weeks after the release of his third album SMILE! 😀Robinson shared a tweet from 2020 revealing that he tried to include an additional interlude on Worldsbut didn’t submit the track in time. He’s now delivered “Hollowheart,” a new collaboration with Amy Millan, who also appears on the album’s opening track, “Divinity.”

“Hollowheart” begins slowly with gentle, organic production layered beneath Millan’s vocals, which are distorted in a way that sounds like they’re coming from an old video game console. After some dramatic piano strikes, angelic strings come through without the retro distortion of the rest of the track, making them sound crystalline and pure.

Seeing as the song was expected to be included on the tracklist over a decade ago, Robinson told a fan he can’t remember where he initially placed it in the Worlds tracklist but if he were arranging it today, it would be nestled between “Fresh Static Snow” and “Polygon Dust.”

In addition to the release of “Hollowheart,” Robinson revealed two new vinyl pressings for fans to purchase. The first is a “10th Anniversary” edition of Worlds on a holographic vinyl and the other is a purple vinyl with the sounds of the album’s bespoke live show from the debut of Second Sky Festival back in 2019.

Porter Robinson’s Worlds 10th Anniversary and Worlds Live vinyl are available for pre-order here.
