Omar Courtz celebrates a year of his debut album “First muse”
The phenomenon of Latin music, Omar Courtz, celebrates a historical moment: the first anniversary of his debut album, First Muse. Released on September 20, 2024 through Mr. 305 Records/Rhymes Entertainment LLC with its management company, OD Entertainment, the project has become a cultural reference, exceeding 1.3 billion combined reproductions, giving Courtz more than 22.3 million monthly listeners in Spotify and consolidating its place as one of the most exciting voices of the most exciting voices of the most exciting voices of New generation of Latin music.
The 17 songs album, which includes collaborations with Rauw Alejandro, Anuel AA, Dei V and Bryant Myers, quickly became a success in Omar’s career. At the time of its launch, First Musa debuted in position No. 6 of the Global Top Albums of Spotify and in No. 4 in the United States, it gave Omar its first entry to the Top 10 of the Billboard Top Latin Albums list and dominated the Top 25 San Juan de Apple Music with “Quevacerhoy?” In No. 1, “Goddesss” in No. 2 and “Musaeleva” in No. 3. His most prominent single, “Quevacerhoy?” Together with De la Rose, it became a global phenomenon, reaching position No. 13 in the Global Top 50 of Spotify (Omar’s first entry on that list). Currently, the song exceeds 457 million reproductions in Spotify and has 5x Platinum certification from La Riaa, consolidating itself as the greatest success of its career to date.
The impact of First Musa has been reinforced with multiple certifications of the Riaa: the album is platinum, while songs like “Goddess,” “Serioconeseq,” “Sexplaylist 1” and “Colored lights” have also been certified platinum, underlining the enormous cultural and commercial impact of the project.
Omar Courtz also received recognition from prominent media in the industry for the cultural weight of the album. Billboard praised him as “a personal odyssey that intertwines his past, the influence of his family and a tribute to the most important women of his life … Each topic showing Omar’s ability to merge diverse styles and create a vibrant listening.” Rolling Stone described him as “one of the most anticipated debuts of the year in Latin music”, highlighting Courtz’s ability to channel themes of love, street life and personal reflection through Trap, Reggaeton, R&B, Jersey Club and House.
Recently, Courtz’s debut led him to his first nomination to the Billboard Latin Music Awards, being appointed finalist in the Top Latin Rhythm Album of the Year category, a defining recognition that underlines the impact of First Musa and the impulse that he has built since its launch.
Beyond the numbers, the last year has been simply transcendental. Omar launched his first World Tour muse, exhausting tickets on his dates in the US, dazzling in Europe and now carrying the show to Latin America, before closing in Spain with six highly anticipated presentations in November. The tour began with three historical nights, with exhausted ticket offices, in the Coliseum of Puerto Rico, where more than 40,000 fans witnessed a show of music, pyrotechnics, choreographies and unforgettable moments. Every night he included more than 30 songs, multiple surprises and special guests of some of the most important figures of Latin music, such as Young Miko, Jay Wheeler, Bryant Myers, Dei V and Kendo Kaponi, culminating at a peak moment of his career when Bad Bunny joined Omar on stage to premiere his collaboration “Veld.”
From being a frequent guest in the historic residence I do not want to leave Bad Bunny, to accumulate more than 5.4 million followers on social networks, Omar Courtz has demonstrated in this year that it is not only an emerging star, but a force that is redefining the future of Latin music.
