In a central hotel in the capital of Madrid, Myke Towers welcomes us behind large sunglasses that do not allow us to see his gaze. Enigmatic reception, as the musician himself, who rarely shares content that has to do with his personal life on his social networks, prefers to keep it to himself.

He has just started his European tour here in Madrid, in which he will tour 18 cities to fill auditoriums and expand his music.

There are many successes he has under his belt: 44 million listeners on Spotify alone, more than 18 million followers on his social networks or his song ‘La Falda’ with more than 300 million streams. But the Puerto Rican has confessed to us that dedicating himself to music was not among his plans.

Question: Where does your interest in the world of music come from?

Answer: I grew up in an environment in which everyone was a music lover, my family always had background music for everything: To play basketball they always played it, to hang out they had other music. I always saw that and I started to “study” music from a very young age, and the passion that I have for it is different, because from being a fan to being a singer… Because I didn’t even want to be one… It was a long road but we are here today day”.

Q: And how did it come about that you became a singer?

A: Because I liked music so much, I suppose that in the end I learned, but at first I didn’t have the confidence to show people what I was doing. It was my friends who told me that I had to teach my music… And little by little it was like that.

Q: If you didn’t dedicate yourself to music, what would you do?

A: It’s a difficult question, but if I had to tell you a profession it would be something like physical therapy, to help athletes and teams. Always be in sports. If it wasn’t about music it had to be about sports.

Q: Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

A: I see myself being what I have always tried to be, a leader of my generation and the next. Being one of the people who most inspires and influences what I do and in other areas, I like that my touch is felt in everything I do.

Q: You have many songs but which is your favorite?

A: As I believe, I see them all equally, but if I have to choose one I think it is “Diosa”, because it is a song that I can teach to any type of audience. For example, if you didn’t listen to me and told me to teach you one of my songs, I would teach you that one so as not to fail.

Q: What is the country where you have most enjoyed giving a concert?

A: Well, without a doubt, Spain is one of them, because the energy here is unique. It was the country that gave me the confidence to say “I can be an artist on stage,” because when you say “everyone with their hands up,” even those furthest from the stage raise their hands.
