The team of trainers, led by José Ramón Navarrete and Javier Galiano, went to the IES Jorge Juan assembly hall to give a talk to several institutes in the city of Alicante
The philosophy of Metro Dance Club It has always been the commitment to combine the most current and original electronic programming with quality artists in its venues, musical creation from its record labels and the training of DJs and music producers. Furthermore, the club’s unwavering goal is to instill the values of electronic music in the youngest people, which is why through its Metro Dance School initiative it brought together more than 150 students from different institutes in the IES Jorge Juan assembly hall.
The action was framed as a contribution to the French classes, so first of all, a first part of the talk was developed with the influence that this country had on the History of Electronic Music with references such as Pierre Schaeffer, Jean-Michel Jarre or the exponents of the French Touch, among others. And in the second part, the attending students were able to go up to the DJ booth and learn how to make their first mixes, as well as live the experience of sharing them with the rest of their classmates.
The initiative was a real success, the students showed great interest in both the clubbing culture and the possibility of experiencing first-hand how to make a mix. All participants ended up enthusiastic and eager for this initiative to be repeated, a wish that according to the organizers will materialize soon.
Metro Dance School was born in February 2020 thanks to an idea created by José Ramón Navarrete, CEO of Metro Dance Club and Javier Galiano. His teaching team is made up of artists such as Chumi DJ, Dubpaper, Carlos Agraz, Andrés Honrubia, Álvaro Escudero, Marqués and Peerk. In addition, artists such as AFFKT, Siles, Irregular Live, EdOne, Kanedo or Yoikol, among others, have participated in special intensive courses.
In their classes, subjects such as operation and management of equipment are taught. Pioneer DJ, Tractor Pro or vinyl and how to mix with each of these formats. Electroacoustics and assembly of sound equipment, harmonic mixing, use of effects, history of electronic music and musical genres or digital marketing, among many other subjects. All this accompanied by practices in the different rooms with their sound equipment and under the watchful eye of the teacher to correct errors and deficiencies.
The selection process is simple, since anyone whose artistic concern is to create music or perform their sessions as a DJ, as well as professionals who wish to acquire new work methodologies and knowledge for their personal projection. These professional courses last twelve weeks. Also in February and July, two one-month intensive courses are taught, the Winter and Summer School, which are a summary of the professional course for those interested in learning about these trainings. In addition, in February and September they present a special open house program in our “Open Day” with days full of free courses in different DJ and music production subjects.
