The president of Venezuela, Nicolas Maduroasked his American counterpart this Tuesday, Joe Bidenlift all the sanctions that weigh on the South American country and begin a new era of relations, “at the highest level”, between Caracas and Washington, broken since 2019, although with rapprochements in recent months.
“All of Venezuela, by consensus, demands that all sanctions against its economy be permanently and definitively lifted, and that we begin a new time, a new era of relations of respect and collaboration, at the highest level, between USA and Venezuela“said Maduro, during an event with representatives of the economic sector in Caracas.
The Chavista leader directed this message specifically to Biden, and then assured that there is a “powerful consensus” in the country around the idea of reestablishing diplomatic ties.
“We are prepared, we are ready, we want it, and it is the consensus of all the political, religious, economic, cultural, social sectors of Venezuela”, he insisted.
In mid-October, the US indicated that it was not yet ready to restore relations with Venezuela, despite the rapprochement process that both countries are carrying out, which allowed the temporary lifting of certain sanctions against the Maduro Executive.
