Kasablanca have struck a chord once again, this time fueling a ’90s classic with new life as their explosive cover of The Prodigy‘s “Breathe” hits streaming services.

What started as a spontaneous, fan-favorite live performance has now been immortalized, thanks in part to the blessing of The Prodigy themselves. First unveiled during their performance at 2023’s Above & Beyond Group Therapy Weekender, Kasablanca’s stunning reinvention of the band’s generational anthem redefines it for a new era of dance music fans.

The original’s grungy guitar riff, a frequently interpolated staple of The Prodigy’s sound, is transformed by Kasablanca into a searing, acid-infused bassline, tailor-made for today’s techno enthusiasts. The late Keith Flint’s timeless vocals still echo with their original ferocity, now interwoven with Kasablanca’s characteristically cinematic synth work.

Released on Anjunabeats, where the duo has become a fixture with their synthwave-infused sounds, “Breathe” follows a string of successful singles like “Terminal Feeling“Kasablanca’s cover stays true to the incendiary spirit of the original, amplifying its danceability while paying homage to its roots. The release is the fourth single from their eagerly anticipated debut album, Higher Resolutionwhich is set to drop in two parts. The first is arriving on October 4th.
