The recent re-election of President Nicolás Maduro in Venezuela sparked a wave of criticism and protests, both inside and outside the neighboring country.
Among the personalities who have raised their voices in solidarity with the Venezuelan people are prominent Colombian singers, such as Karol G, Carlos Vives and Juanes, who have expressed their support in this difficult moment.
La Bichota used her wide platform on social media to express her support for Venezuelans: “I love you Venezuela. You hurt me too much. You don’t deserve this anymore! You deserve to be free,” the singer from Paisa posted on her Instagram account.
Maluma also made a post in which he simplified his expression of solidarity through an image of the Venezuelan flag accompanied by a heart on his Instagram account.
On the other hand, Venezuelan actor Luciano D’ Alessandro, resident in Colombia, expressed his feelings of frustration and hope on social media: “When your dreams are trampled on again and again, it is only logical to be afraid of a new dream, it is totally understandable, but what cannot be lost is the hope of seeing millions of Venezuelans return to their country,” his words were a call not to give up on dreams of a better future for the neighboring country.
Juanes joined the chorus of voices in support of Venezuela: “I am with you Venezuela. May the spirituality and strength of your freedom overcome tyranny,” the singer wrote on his X account (formerly Twitter) on the same day as the presidential elections.
The protests and messages of support from artists not only denounce the alleged electoral fraud, but also seek to make visible the need for a profound change in the Venezuelan government. The singer Sebastián Yatra published an image with a black background next to three hearts in the colors of the Venezuelan flag and the 7 stars.
Likewise, the singer from Santa Marta, Carlos Vives, wrote on his X account (formerly Twitter): “Venezuela, you have the key to my heart and I only hope that we all meet again. Things have to change, I am with you,” referring to the chorus of one of his songs called La tierra del olvido.
