According to ESPN’s Jeff Passan, Soto will sign a 15-year, $765 million contract to join the Mets, marking the largest contract in the history of professional sports. Passan added that the agreement has no extensions and includes scales that can reach more than $800 million.

According to MLB Network’s Jon Morosi, Soto’s contract includes a buyout clause after the fifth year. Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reported that if Soto opts out of his contract after five years, the Mets can void the transaction by increasing his average annual value for the final 10 years of the deal.
